Equip 2:22

Mission & Vision

Mission

Equip 2:22 is a ministry for God and by His Spirit, which builds the community of believers in order to raise the Shadrachs, Meshachs, and Abednigos of today’s generation who need the Holy Spirit to stand in the fire. The source of our name is Ephesians 2:22 which says “In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”

There are many facets to what we call “God’s Big Idea”, which include the building of homeschool communities in which families ‘do life together’, a safe library, conferences and family retreats, community development, a community land trust, a resource center, worship opportunities, and scholarship. All contribute to how God will change this generation. Talk to God about the possibilities He has in His heart. Maybe you are part of the sanding, shaping, and polishing of this diamond in the rough. Read more here.

God has asked us to raise the future Shadrachs, Meshachs and Abednegos of this generation. They need the Holy Spirit to be able to stand in the fire with no compromise. We teach God’s kids how to hear Him correctly and the importance of obeying Him. We know that those with strong souls and strong minds will be the leaders, and that they will lead the ones with weak souls and weak minds.

This clear calling is to equip children of the next generation to be able to be confident, sure of their identity in Christ, and citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. As humans, their purpose is to glorify God, to be a vessel of the Lord as God has called each of them, and to fulfill their purposes and callings with passion. We help our children discover and develop their God-given strengths, we teach them that privilege follows responsibility and work is part of life, we allow them to work through healthy pressures, and we honor the generational covenant which God established.

Our hope in a Christian Classical Homeschool Hive is to create a community of families that really can be a village. We create homeschool communities that ‘do life together’. We want for the children, along with parents, to gain deeper and longer lasting friendships. Let’s build up God’s basic building block of society: the family.

The Equip 2:22 Homeschool Hive is built to encourage and equip parents, to build knowledge in children which is passed through the sieve of the Word, and to build confidence. We are linking arms to give our children an education that one family alone could not accomplish.

We prioritize worship in the day, and worship God with the children, and we are teaching our children how to hear God’s voice too. The teachings we provide are Biblically based, we read and learn from the Bible, and we are developing children to be like the Bereans: to ‘examine the Scriptures daily to see if what is being taught is so’. In other words, we create workmen of the Word.

We believe education should teach children how to think. We are proponents for the classical model of education. As of 2023, God is teaching us the Hebraic or Biblical Classical Model called the Principle Approach. The Principle Approach teaches children to use frameworks to think from Biblical Foundational Principles which reveal to their hearts the cause-to-effect of the world around them, the internal-to-external principles of character-to-behavior in the persons around them, and draws out their God-given reasoning skills through research, word studies and by using Webster’s 1828 Dictionary. They will search out of Biblical principles and leading ideas using the 4 Rs of research (research, reason, relate, and record)  and the Notebook Approach. The Chain of Christianity in addition to other timelines, the ‘key charts’ related to individuals, events, institutions or documents, and the tenets and principles of the Principle Approach such as individuality, conscience as property, and self-governance, will help them to develop their own ability to reason, remember, and make connections in the things they see around them.

We are excited about where God is taking us. God is helping us to offer children the materials in the format which they are developmentally prepared to imbibe, and spiritually ready to take in. You might be surprised at just how much even the very youngest children are ready to take in spiritually. We know Jesus loves children and honors them with His Spirit just the same as He does for adults. We also want to develop deeper community with more intimacy where “iron sharpens iron”. This happens in true friendships.

Vision

The main goal of education is to raise children who love Jesus and meet the high calling that God places on their lives. We want to raise future adults that love what Jesus loves, will what God wills, and do things how the Holy Spirit asks to do it. We want children who love learning, and to provide those tools for learning. But how is this done?

We pick up the heavy lifting to teach ourselves, work economically, and combine talents. We partner with Him to lower costs for “the family”, create community, and deliver high standards of education to our children. In addition to hearing and obeying God, we are teaching memory work which includes scripture, history, grammar, math, science, history timeline, and hymns; writing composition, financial literacy, and public speaking. With us, kids naturally learn about and practice self-governance, respect, and relationship skills. We hope to also include more in the areas of physical education, life skills, art, and more.

We see God provide for us in all ways. He has demonstrated both His favor and His ability to train us, equip us, and provide for us, even in the nick of time. He has continually worked in signs and wonders. He has been clear in His communication with us, and faithful to His words. We have many amusing and miraculous stories of how God has smiled at us, and every day these stories are growing in number.

God is raising up more campuses now, and the Equip 2:22 Homeschool Hive is growing. The founding group still meets in Campbell, CA in the Bay Area. We expect more groups to branch off and begin over time. The next group in starting in Cumming, GA under mentorship from both Revival Valley and the Foundation for American Christian Education (FACE). If you know homeschooling families on the East Coast who are looking for something like this, please give them our information.

The DNA of the campuses are the same, but the personalities are different. God doesn’t create franchises. Instead, God honors the individual. Each state, community, and family is different. He is doing the ‘just right’ thing for each community where He wants to work. Thus, some of the inner workings you see outlined here may be different in expression in another campus, however, the vision, goals, values, and priorities will remain aligned. Each campus member is for the building of the entire “Equip Family”. For example, one person in Georgia will strengthen the souls of those in California, and one person in California will strengthen the hearts of a person in New York. The whole body works together – This is God’s way.

Equip 2:22 Core Values

We highly value Godly character. We are linking arms with other parents, and grandparents, who are willing to contribute, who want to homeschool their children, who may or may not with have had prior experience homeschooling, who are willing to teach their children with a Biblical Christ-centered worldview, who have at least one child who is in the 1st – 9th grade levels, who either love or can learn to embrace the classical model of education, and finally, parents who want to make their own medical choices.
